Thanks to our knowledge and experience, over the years we have developed systems that can tackle even very stubborn dirt and can clean in a sustainable and efficient way. IBC reiniging / RVS container reinigingssystemen

Gröninger IBC cleaning systems are available in a huge number of variants, from manually operated to fully automatic systems. Besides cleaning IBCs, the systems can also be used to clean stainless steel liquid carriers (400 l/kg - 2,000 l/kg volume) or product containers used in the industrial and logistical sectors. There are a variety of approaches in terms of cleaning solutions (recirculation systems or lost cleaning) and settings (temperature, pressure, detergents and cleaning time). The optimal technical configuration is determined in consultation with Gröninger. The systems can be built separately or as a complete cleaning booth. The main functions are:

Interior cleaning
The interior of a container is cleaned using a rotating washer nozzle. The washer nozzle is inserted into the IBC or stainless steel container manually or automatically. There are many different types of washer nozzles available:

  • spray angle (180°-360°)
  • drive (electric, pneumatic, water-driven)
  • operating pressure (from 2 to 200 bar)
  • water consumption (15-50 litres per minute)
  • deployment area/industry type (food, pharma, chemicals, etc.)
  • certification (ATEX zoning)

Exterior cleaning
IBCs or stainless steel containers can be cleaned on the outside both manually and automatically, using different operating pressures (2 to 200 bar):

  • manually with an ergonomic hand-gun, including a power nozzle (to remove stickers).
  • rotating washer nozzles
  • wash lances (40-300 cm) with multiple jets
  • washing frames (square or rectangular)

Draining and drying IBCs
After cleaning the interior of an IBC, there is always some residual water left inside. To remove this water quickly, a pump or vacuum extractor sucks it out of the IBC. This can be done automatically or manually. The IBC is then dried by vigorously blowing hot air into it using a blowpipe. Gröninger supplies Drypack drying systems for this purpose. These extraction and drying systems produce excellent results: the IBCs are dry in 6 minutes! 

Testing IBCs for leaks
IBCs should be regularly inspected and tested. One of the inspections involves a density measurement. This measurement can be performed with a Gröninger IBC leak detection system. The IBC is subjected to overpressure for a specified period, after which the system measures the pressure loss. If the pressure drops too quickly under the specified conditions, it means that the IBC is leaking and may no longer be used. The leak detection systems offer a variety of possible options, depending on the customer's requirements:

  • automatic positioning of the leak detection nozzle
  • with a basic data logging system (storage of generated data on a hard disk)
  • with an extensive data logging system (storage and processing of generated data per IBC)
  • with a label printer
  • with a barcode scanner for IBC recognition

Disinfecting, sterilising and steaming
There are technical possibilities for implementing these functions during or after cleaning, depending on the area of application

  • Data logging for container cleaning and/or sterilisation
  • with a barcode scanner for IBC recognition
  • with a basic data logging system (storage of cleaning / sterilisation cycles performed for each container)
  • with an extensive data logging system (storage and processing of cleaning/ sterilisation cycles performed, with extra details such as pressure, temperature, RM dosages, etc. per IBC/container)
  • export of data to Excel file and/or label printer

The Gröninger IBC cleaning systems can therefore be equipped with technical solutions in a number of ways. However, Gröninger’s focus on the internal logistics, based on its extensive experience, is just as important:

  • supply and storage of soiled packaging from internal transport
  • physical location of the cleaning system and/or technical space
  • removal and storage of clean packaging
  • removal of rinsing water (gutters, drip trays, etc.)
  • lighting
  • ventilation (due to vapour formation)
  • wash bay heating
  • residual product removal

Equipping wash bays and wash areas

Many companies need a wash bay in which they can perform various cleaning activities. In these wash bays, IBCs, stainless steel containers, pallets, packaging, production tools and other components can be cleaned. Gröninger installs the proper equipment in the wash bay so that it complies with all of the customer-specific cleaning needs.

Gröninger also builds customised wash bays for vehicles and other (heavy) equipment. Gröninger helps the customer to design wash bays and choose the systems and the practical fittings. Besides the cleaning technology, specific attention is therefore also paid to the logistical handling and layout.


Stationary cleaning systems with foam guns and high-pressure guns

Gröninger specialises in mobile or stationary cleaning systems for factories. For example, we have supplied countless customers with stationary pump sets connected to a pipe system with guns and foam lances. There are a wide range of options available. Too many to mention here. As far as cleaning is concerned, there are very few problems for which Gröninger doesn’t have a solution. When creating a new design, Gröninger draws on the very extensive knowledge and experience it has gained over the years in all kinds of practical situations. These include:

  • hot water, cold water, dosing detergent and/or foam
  • high pressure, low pressure or medium pressure
  • ATEX-implemented (explosion-proof)
  • 60hz for shipping and offshore
  • CIP (cleaning in place) systems with water circulation

Washing systems for trucks and heavy equipment

Trucks and heavy equipment for special applications (concrete trucks, tankers, sand trucks, tippers, etc.) are difficult to clean with traditional brush washing systems. That is because they are often heavily soiled and/or have difficult-to-reach corners. Gröninger Cleaning Systems has the perfect solution for this. The truckwash system can be installed as a complete car wash but can also be purchased in separate modules. The washing systems are very reliable and extremely low-maintenance, and they produce excellent washing results in cases of heavy soiling. If required, all the equipment can be installed in a separate container. Water re-use is also a possible option. The car-wash system can include the following modules:


  • water buffer tank with high-pressure pump
  • pre-purge arch
  • oscillating wash lances for the sides
  • foam arch
  • rinsing arch
  • high-pressure pump unit
  • foampack foam pump
  • control panels and wash bay control panels
  • base cleaner for underside / chassis cleaner
      • The chassis cleaner is a module that is often supplied separately. Among other things, it is used at waste sites and docks where vehicles may only leave the site after 
      • being cleaned. The system is also extremely suitable for heavy military vehicles and earth-moving equipment.
  • monorails with high-pressure guns mounted for manual cleaning (cold/hot/foam)
    • Everybody is familiar with high-pressure guns. They can be supplied with hot or cold water. The Gröninger foampack is a high-pressure pump unit that can supply two foam lances at the same time. Because the system works fully automatically, it uses
      shampoo very economically.
